Ryan is a junior Integrated Marketing Communications major from Phoenix, AZ with a passion for learning, social justice, and outdoor adventure. He’s a part of the new Social Media and Communications Team for Honors. His participation in Honors also includes a position on the Advisory Board. Outside of his responsibilities to Program however, Ryan is a Young Life leader, a youth soccer coach, and a marketing consultant for local nonprofit organizations. We are thrilled to have Ryan on the Honors team and, if you see him, let him know what you think about the Honors Social Media Empire (ok a bit of an exaggeration).
Jennifer is a junior Television-Radio major and Theatre minor from Queens, NY and part of the new Social Media and Communications Team for Honors. She is an associate producer for The PAs, premiering this season on ICTV, and also a Park School Dean’s Host and editor for Symposium: The Honors Undergraduate Scholarly Journal. Her paper “The Why and the Wherefore: Xander, Shakespeare, and the Artificial Fool,” originally presented at the 2016 Whalen Symposium, will be published in the Fall 2016 issue of Watcher Junior: The Undergraduate Journal of Whedon Studies. When she’s not busy on set or writing her next project, you can find Jennifer searching for great brunch spots, doing crossword puzzles, and re-watching Arrested Development on Netflix. We are thrilled to have Jennifer on the Honors team and If you see her let her know what you think about the Honors Social Media Empire (ok a bit of an exaggeration).
Erin Dubots is excited to be your new Student Event Coordinator. She is a sophomore majoring in Communication Management and Design, concentrating in Corporate Communications, as well as minoring in Spanish and, of course, Honors. On campus, you can find herin Park, copy editing for The Ithacan, or being involved with PRSSA (Public Relations Student Society of America). She is originally from Corning, New York, so Ithaca is practically her backyard. She loves hiking the trails and spending time on Cayuga Lake. She will be studying abroad in Ithaca College’s London Center next semester but she will be back supporting Honors in fall 2017. Students are critical in running the Honors Program and we are excited to have Erin on board.
Emily Hutton is part of the new student support team for Honors. She will be helping out with coordinating the many events Honors has offers throughout the year, including many cool trips off campus as well as on campus events. She comes from Douglassville, PA a small town half way between Philadelphia and Lancaster. She is majoring in Biology with a goal of pursing medicine. She loves being part of the Honors program and participated in almost every activity last year. In her spare time, she enjoys attending swing dancing club, reading, and having game and movie nights with friends. She had the opportunity to travel to Europe last summer, and hopes to travel abroad next year…possibly to Australia! She is looking forward to helping plan new and exciting activities for the Honors Program and to meeting and interacting with other members of the Honors community. Students are critical in running the Honors Program and we are thrilled to have Emily on board.
Jess Shapiro is the new Residence Director in Eastman and Lyon Halls and will also be working as the Honors Academic Assistant as well. She just graduated in May with a Master’s degree in College Student Personnel from Bowling Green State University and earned a Bachelor’s degree from Boston College in 2014. Jess is very passionate about helping students succeed in college and is looking forward to doing so through academic advising and further supporting the Honors Program in other ways too. Outside of work, Jess loves playing with her cat (Baboo), baking, reading, and watching movies. If you see Jess, welcome her to the Honors community as well as IC.
Jess will have Honors advising office hours on Tuesday 8:30-11:30 hours in her office (Eastman 100-W) and then Wednesday afternoon (12:30-2:30) in the Honors lounge. You’ll find this listed on the blog resource page.
