We are a week away from our annual Holiday Celebration, featuring food, games, crafts, raffles, and more! This can’t-miss event is sure to be a blast, especially with our all-new Ugly Sweater Contest! Wear your tackiest sweater and win some exciting prizes. Please join us next Tuesday, December 13th, from 7:00-9:00 in Emerson Suites as we celebrate the holiday season, end of the semester, and YOU, the Honors community! We can’t wait to see you there.

Weekly Events Roundup – 11/28 to 12/5

Now that we’re back from break, the semester is racing to its end. Here are some events on campus this week to help you learn, laugh, or de-stress as your workload amps up.rivero

Bolivian author Giovanna Rivero will read from her short story collection, Para comerte mejor, tonight at 6 p.m. in the Handwerker Gallery. Rivero is an author and Assistant Professor in the werner.jpgDepartment of Modern Languages and Literature.

Artist and physicist Werner Sun will give a lecture with a workshop to follow on Wednesday from 2 to 3 p.m. The event, sponsored by the Art Department, will be held in Ceracche 127.

The Ithaca College Contemporary Ensemble will perform on Wednesday, November 29 at 7:00 p.m. in Hockett Family Recital Hall.

Park Distinguished Faculty-in-Residence A. Van Jordan will host Mason Richards and Dion Graham for a panel entitled “Using Cultural Iconography in Screenwriting and Media Production” on Friday, December 1st at 3 p.m. The event will be held in Park Auditorium, and is part of the Micheaux Visiting Filmmaker Series. Ithaca College’s Handbell Choir will present their Winter Concert on Friday at 5:00 p.m. in Muller Chapel. rdIC’s two handbell choirs will play a set of pop, holiday, and classical songs.

 

Routine Disturbances, Ithaca College’s show choir, will perform a fall preview in Emerson Suites at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

The IC Department of Physics and Astronomy will hold a public viewing night at the Clinton B. Ford Observatory from 8:00-10:00 p.m. Friday. To attend, show up at the vehicle ‘turn around’ in front of the entrances of Smiddy Hall and CHS (F lot side).  A shuttle van will make regular runs to convey people up to the observatory and back down.

ICTV will premiere its new scripted series, The Legend of South Hill, on Sunday, December 3 in Park Auditorium. The screening will begin at 7:00 p.m. following a red carpet beginning at 6:00 p.m. More information can be found on the event’s Facebook page.

 

 

IC Honors: Cayuga Nature Center

On October 8, first-year Honors students participated in our annual trip to the Cayuga Nature Center. They carved pumpkins, explored the Center’s treehouse and interacted with the creatures that live there, and, as per tradition, presented skits created with their seminar classes. IC Honors: Backpacking in the Finger Lakes National Forest

Check out these photos from the Honors backpacking trip! The last weekend in September, Honors students hiked and camped in the Finger Lakes National Forest. The trip was led by students from the Outdoor Adventure Leadership program.

IC Honors: Rock Climbing at Moss Island

This past weekend, Honors students traveled two hours east of Ithaca to Little Falls, NY to spend the day rock climbing at Moss Island. Located in the middle of the Erie Canal and next to No. E-17, the largest lock in the state of New York, Moss Island is a popular climbing location for climbers in Upstate New York.
