IC Honors Event: Shaw Festival Ticket Sales

john_tenniel_-_illustration_from_the_nursery_alice_1890_-_c03757_07Tickets for the Shaw Festival trip will be sold during the noon hour on Tuesday Sept 13 in the Buttermilk Falls room in the campus center. Tickets are $25, first come first served, you may buy two extra tickets for other Honors students, and you will only get a refund if you seat can be filled.

The trip will be on Sat Sept 17. The bus will leave at 6:00 am and head to Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, Canada. You must have a valid passport or enhanced drivers license to go on this trip. There will be a workshop related to the show, Alice in Wonderland, at 11:00 am followed by lunch and the show at 2:00. The bus will return by 11:00 pm.

 

IC Honors Events: Backpacking and Rock Climbing Ticket Sales

hiking-691738_640We will be selling tickets tomorrow, Thursday 9/8, during the noon hour in Muller 215 (Dylan’s Office) for two Outdoor Trips. Each trip is $10 and there are only 9 spots available for each (both pictures are from last year’s trips). This is a great opportunity to try something different. As usual, tickets are first come first served, you may buy 2 extras for other Honors students, and refunds will only happen if we can resell your seat.

Backpacking Trip (Friday 9/23 to Saturday 9/24)- Leave IC around 4:00PM (or after last class), spend the night in Finger Lakes National Forest, and return to campus Saturday around 5:00PM. Overnight camping with a day hike following on Saturday. Trail is relatively flat. We cover about 6 miles. We’ll need participants to attend a pre-trip meeting 1 week prior to the trip to meet trip leaders, complete paperwork and cover gear/equipment needs.  Note: All gear is provided (tents, backpacks, etc).DCIM100GOPRO

Rock Climbing Trip (10/1). Leave IC around 7:00AM. Climb at Moss Island in Little Falls NY and return to campus around 7:00PM (same day). A day of outdoor rock climbing. Participants will need to attend a pre-trip meeting 1 week prior to the trip to meet trip leaders, complete paperwork and cover gear/equipment needs.  All gear is provided and no experience is necessary.

IC Honors Event: Whitewater Rafting

IMG_1338Tickets for the Whitewater Rafting trip for this Saturday, 8/27, go on sale tomorrow, Thursday 8/25, during the noon hour in the Ithaca Falls room in the Campus Center. Tickets are $25, are sold first come first served, and you may buy two extra tickets for other Honors students. You can only get a refund if we are able to fill your seat on the trip. We leave on Saturday morning at 6:00am and we should be back between 5:00 and 6:00pm.

WHAT TO WEAR: – Bathing suit – Quick-dry clothing (please stay away from cotton garments as they have a tendency to keep you colder) – Old sneakers, watershoes, tevas, etc. (you want something on your foot that can get wet but is not going to fall off)

WHAT TO BRING:- Change of clothes for after trip – Extra shoes – Towel. Leave all valuables at home; jewelry, watches, cameras that are not waterproof, etc.

IC Honors Event: The Welcome Dinner

PrintThe annual Welcome Dinner (or really a Pizza Party) is tomorrow, Tuesday August 23. Students that volunteered to be a Big will meet their Little in T102 at 5:00 and then head over to the fitness center quad for pizza and conversation. Even if you aren’t a Big or Little you are welcome to join us for Dinner.

Upcoming: Whitewater rafting tickets go on sale on Thursday during the noon hour for a Saturday trip. Keep your eye out for further info. Welcome Back.

IC Honors Event: Spring Swing

Print Spring Swing is happening Tuesday, April 12th from 7 to 9:30 pm in Emerson Suites. There will be live music, swing dance lessons, and of course an array of food!

The IC Swing Dance Club will be joining us from 7 to 7:30pm to teach swing dance lessons, so be sure to wear your dancing shoes! From 7:30 to 9pm the event will consist of live music to dance to! You can dress up if you want, but do not have to.

IC Honors Event: Annual Holiday Banquet

WhiteHouseC12HThe Honors Annual Holiday Banquet is Wednesday, December 9, from 7-9pm in the Emerson Suites.

There will be dessert food and drink, free books, a gift raffle, and gingerbread house decorating.

This event is not to be missed and provides an opportunity to dress up a bit! Spread the word and take time to meet up with your big or little as well as hang out with other Honors friends. We look forward to seeing everyone there!

IC Honors Event: Ice Cream Social

ice-cream-214986_640WE ALL SCREAM FOR ICE CREAM! Tuesday November 10 from 7:00-8:00 in Kling. Do we need to say more. Bigs, please make the effort to reach out to your little and meet up with them at this event. We have never finished all the ice cream and so I formally challenge Honors students to show up and finish all the ice cream. For those that are sustainability minded, please bring a bowl and a spoon.

IC Honors Events: The Local Farm Tour

Tickets for the local farm tour go on sale tomorrow, Tuesday Oct 20, during the noon hour in Bus 114. Tickets are $15, and as usual, tickets are sold on a first come first served basis, and refunds will only be provide if your spot can be filled.

We will be staying in the area, going to Lively Run Goat Dairy for an inside look at how cheese is made, to see their adorable goats, sample their cheeses, and to buy their amazing cheese if you like. Then we will go over to the Cider House, where we will get a tour of how their ciders are made, enjoy a chanticleer board (a selection of local, organic cured meats, local cheese, fruit, pickles and spreads, served w. locally baked sourdough bread), and some hard ciders (for those of you over 21) and non-alcoholic drinks (for those who are not). Next, we will stop by Cayuga Creamery for locally made ice-cream, then head to our last stop, which is Swedish Hill Winery. There, we will get a tour of how their wine is made and there will be an opportunity to taste for those of you over 21.

You will need to bring money if you plan on purchasing cheese, wine, and ice-cream. We will leave Ithaca on Saturday the 24th at 9:30am and return by 5:00pm. Make sure you wear clothing appropriate for walking outside. I looks to be a beautiful 60 degree day on Saturday and as a bonus you will get to enjoy the fall foliage as we drive around the finger lakes.
