Favorite part about IC:Ithaca College has been an absolutely amazing place for me to grow, my favorite part has been the community of friends that has proliferated for me. I have had the opportunity to grow alongside some truly magnificent people, and would not trade that for the world.”

Favorite Honors seminar (so far) and why:American Breakdown with Hugh Egan was a great class in which we read many texts delving into psychological breakdown and American literature. Professor Egan was an engaging professor, and led our class through some of the best discussions I’ve had at IC.”

Coolest opportunity you’ve had through IC and/or the Honors Program:Hands down the opportunity to teach The Dark Knight, Power and Justice Through Film. This will be the third year that the class is on the books, and I am beyond excited to co-teach it again. This class was born in Elizabeth Bleicher’s Why Are We Here class, and has become something wonderful, with great class discussions and debates on Batman and our larger world.”

Favorite part about IC: “I love the incredible alumni base IC has built up over the years. Alumni are always willing to talk to you about your plans and goals and give advice.”

Favorite seminar (so far) and why: “I loved taking Bruce Henderson’s Teenage Wasteland class. Not only were the books we read very interesting, but the class really bonded and got to know each other. It was a great way to become more well-read and to meet new people in my freshman year.”

Coolest opportunity from IC and/or the Honors Program: “Through the Park School Internship Database, I learned about a syndication and post-production company in my hometown. I applied to be an intern and was able to learn a lot about the industry the summer after my freshman year. It was a great experience and I can’t wait to see what else IC has in store for me.”

Favorite part about IC: “Since I love IC so much, here’s a list!
1. The peeps. People are great, but especially the people of Ithaca College.
2. The energy and passion of the students. Hearing all of the various passions of the students is simply inspiring.
3. The weather….in the summer.”

Favorite Honors Seminar you’ve taken and why: “Most definitely would be the Civic Engagement course with Pat Spencer. Not only is Pat great, but having a space to talk about effective volunteering was a hoot of a time. Also, meeting various alums and civic leaders of the Ithaca area really help me develop my own civic engagement.”

Coolest opportunity you’ve had through IC and/or the Honors Program: “Coolest opportunity that I’ve had through IC is simply having the opportunity to live in such a socially aware place. Coming from a rather conservative town and not being exposed to various social justice topics, it has been great to be able to hear so many more opinions from people of Ithaca.”

Favorite part about IC: “My favorite part about IC is definitely the people. From classes, to clubs, to on-campus jobs, everyone who I have met brings me a different perspective and a unique personality. There are so many talented students at IC and it amazes me when I learn about the creativity and the drive that many of my peers possess. That is why I always try to branch out and meet new people; because everyone here inspires me in a different way.”

Favorite Honors seminar and why: “My favorite Honors seminar was American Breakdown with Hugh Egan. This class explored a variety of genres within American literature as well as different segments within the field of psychology. We were a small and close knit class that was always willing to delve deeper into the material, even as we watched related movies together outside of class. There was great academic exploration through our discussions and Professor Egan was always excited to talk with us about our reactions to the course material.”

Coolest opportunity through IC and/or the Honors program: “The coolest opportunity that I have had through IC is consulting with local nonprofits through the student organization, SCNO. I really value this experience because I am able to take my knowledge from the Park School and apply it to a professional setting. With my team of peers, I am able to collaborate and coproduce a deliverable that not only highlights my personal strengths, but also my understanding of the communications field. It has connected me to both my peers and to the greater Ithaca community.”
