Favorite part about IC:The people, for sure. There are so many different people with different interests and skills, that not only have I made lasting, DOPE friendships, but I can also abuse my friends immense talents for my own gain.”

Favorite Honors seminar you’ve taken (so far) and why:Dark Knight. Why? It’s about fudging BATMAN!”

Coolest opportunity you’ve had through IC and/or the Honors Program:I could talk about a million amazing collaborations between people more talented than me, but my favorite was writing and directing a workshop of my original musical ‘Heart Center: The Yoga Musical!’ Having the opportunity and resources to actually put on my vulgar passion project was fantastic, especially being able to work with actors who make my work seem way better than it really is. Fellow Honorite (Honorarian? Honorer?), Carrie Lindeman was the biggest help for co-writing the musical and being responsible for any song that sounds good. Expecting a full production of the show at IC this fall. It’ll be good and funny… hopefully.”

Favorite part about IC:I love that there is community where I don’t feel like an outsider. Growing up I always thought that I would never fit in, but Ithaca College has so many unique, bizarre, and incredible people who just sort of say ‘Who cares if you’re weird? We want you to join us!’ This College just sort of creates that feeling inside you: the desire to be inclusive.”
Favorite Honors Seminar (so far) and why:Teenage Wasteland my freshman year. I may be a bit partial because it was my first, but this seminar with Bruce Henderson was such a great way to indulge in such a unique topic. Being able to go through so many variations on the ‘Young Adult in Dystopia’ genre was great in exploring differences in story structure, and it definitely helps you out when such a big part of your major involves telling a story.”
Coolest opportunity you’ve had through IC and/or the Honors Program:The ability to study abroad in London. Ask anyone who’s ever spent a semester out of the country and you’ll sentence yourself to a half hour rant on why they wish they could go back. Personally, I’m just eternally grateful for the opportunity I had to become integrated in a new city and a new country. The London Center still feels wholly Ithaca though, with Bill’s City as Text class for Honors students feeling like it came straight from the mind of old Pfaff himself. If anyone is on the fence about studying abroad, I highly recommend it. At the very least you’ll come back with new memories and worldviews”

Favorite part about IC: “Since I love IC so much, here’s a list!
1. The peeps. People are great, but especially the people of Ithaca College.
2. The energy and passion of the students. Hearing all of the various passions of the students is simply inspiring.
3. The weather….in the summer.”

Favorite Honors Seminar you’ve taken and why: “Most definitely would be the Civic Engagement course with Pat Spencer. Not only is Pat great, but having a space to talk about effective volunteering was a hoot of a time. Also, meeting various alums and civic leaders of the Ithaca area really help me develop my own civic engagement.”

Coolest opportunity you’ve had through IC and/or the Honors Program: “Coolest opportunity that I’ve had through IC is simply having the opportunity to live in such a socially aware place. Coming from a rather conservative town and not being exposed to various social justice topics, it has been great to be able to hear so many more opinions from people of Ithaca.”
