Admission to Honors

Interested in being a part of the Honors Program?

The Ithaca College Honors Program is highly selective. Applications are only accepted from students who have been invited to apply. Invitations are not based on any single criterion, such as standardized test scores, class rank, or G.P.A. The Ithaca College Office of Admission examines all applications to the college and identifies the most highly qualified applicants. Selected students are then invited to apply to the honors program. One hundred and twenty students are selected to begin honors in the fall semester.

Incoming first-year students are invited to apply to the program soon after they receive their acceptance to Ithaca College and their applications are usually due mid-March. Students are selected based on two short essays and on a rolling basis.

Internal transfer students in their first or second year are invited to apply to the program, applications due to the honors director by the last day of classes in the Fall semester and require a brief recommendation from a faculty member and two full essays. Students will be notified about their application by mid-January and admitted students must enroll in an Honors class for the spring semester to be fully admitted into the program.
