Feeling the Need to Buy Some Books? It’s the Friends of the Library’s Fall Book Sale!

If you’re a book lover–and we’re betting that nearly all Library Lovers are–you need to know about the legendary biannual book sales staged by the Friends of the Tompkins County Public Library. And you’re in luck–one is right around the corner!

Here’s the details:

When: October 9-11, 16-18, and 23-26, 10am-8pm daily

Where: 509 Esty Street, Ithaca

Covid safety measures: Face masks are required, regardless of vaccination status. To allow for social distancing, only 80-100 customers will be admitted to the sale at any one time.

Selection: Over 250,000 gently used books, comics and graphic novels, DVDs, CDs, puzzles, games, and other items donated by community members, organized into 70+ subject categories, including 40,000 items in the Children’s Section. The Collector’s Corner offers rare and antiquarian books, first editions, collectible vinyl records, artwork, vintage games and toys, and more.

Highlights of this sale: You’ll find a special fall and winter holiday-themed display, many books in Russian, thanks to a generous donation, and a large number of comics and graphic novels.

Best of all: The Friends of the Tompkins County Public Library donate the proceeds of the sale to TCPL, the Finger Lakes Library System, and Tompkins County organizations working for literacy.

*There will be limits to the numbers of items per customer on the first Saturday and Sunday of the sale.
