Soon we will all be returning for Spring Semester and it is important to start off on a good pace and with an even better state of mind. This is a list of Chegg’s “12 Small Things You Can Do Everyday To Be Happier,” feel free to read and hopefully take a point or two and incorporate it in your everyday routine!
1. Smile & Laugh
You don’t have to be happy to smile. Look in the mirror right now and show off your pearly whites, you can even let out a chuckle if you want. Just the act of smiling makes you happier, and you don’t have to mean it.
2. Read A Good Book
A good book can solve any problems you have. So, fire up your Kindle or pull out an actual book and get lost in faraway worlds.
3. Call/Text A Friend
We all have a friend that can brighten up our day just by talking to us. Call or text your favorite friend for an instant day brightener.
4. Soak Up Some Sun (when it gets warmer!)
It’s hard to be upset when the sun is beaming down on your skin, and you are soaking in all the Vitamin D. Grab an iced coffee and find a sunny spot on campus to chill out at for a while.
5. Write 3 Things You Are Grateful For
We don’t always take the time necessary to be thankful and count our blessings. Start keeping a journal every day and write down three things you are grateful for. You can’t be upset when you are thinking of all the things you have to be thankful for.
6. Give Someone A Compliment
One of the easiest ways to be happy is to throw kindness around like confetti. So, when you see someone’s dress or shoes, and you love it, don’t forget to let them know!
Take a page from Elle Woods’ playbook. “Exercise gives you endorphins; endorphins make you happy.” Hit up your campus gym for a quick workout session!
8. Watch A Funny Video
The internet is filled with funny videos. Scroll down your Facebook timeline or go to YouTube, you are bound to find a video that will have you cracking up in no time.
9. Sleep or Nap
If you’re not happy, there is a chance you are cranky. A quick way to solve that is with a power nap. Take a snooze for 20 minutes so you can be recharged and back to your normal, peppy self.
10. Recite Your Mantra
Do you have a mantra? If not, find one that speaks to you, and any time you need to be reminded just how awesome you are repeat it to yourself. Repeating your mantra is a great way to get in the zone and get your smile back.
There are so many meditation apps out there that it’s almost impossible for you not to have a way to meditate. Centering yourself and focusing on your happiness will surely bring more happiness into your life.
12. Have A Dance Party
Last, but not least, crank up your favorite tunes and dance it out (even if someone is watching you.)
