The Honors Program and Department of Sociology are sponsoring a book launch and discussion for Spontaneous Combustion: The Eros Effect and Global Revolution, featuring Contributing Editor Andrew Thompson, a Visiting Assistant Professor of Social Movements and Social Change in the Department of Sociology. The launch will be held in Klingenstein Lounge at 5:00 on Tuesday, November 7, and refreshments will be served. Honors Program Director Alicia Swords will moderate the discussion.
About Spontaneous Combustion:
We are living through a period of massive social upheaval. Why, at given historical moments, does resistance to oppression seem to emerge spontaneously from multiple points around the globe despite differences in conditions on the ground? How can that resistance be understood, and how can it be furthered?
Spontaneous Combustion: The Eros Effect and Global Revolution (SUNY Press 2017) addresses precisely these questions.
Books will be available for purchase at a special launch price.
