IC Honors Student Spotlight: Ramya Vijayagopal ’17

Meet our student spotlight this week, junior Journalism major with a minor in Women’s and Gender Studies from Columbus, Indiana! Ramya spent this past fall at our Ithaca College London Center, and you can learn more about her below:

Favorite part about IC:  “The community I have built and how much I have learned about the world around me through CSCRE, Sociology and Women’s and Gender Studies classes! I think my world view and my perceptions have changed a lot since I left Indiana, and I am excited to keep learning and growing.”

Favorite Honors seminar (so far) and why:Wonder Women with [Professor Katherine] Kittredge freshman year because she is an amazing teacher and we had a wonderful time in that class, reading great books and watching zany movies like Barbarella. We learned a lot but also got to know each other and it was a great class to take, especially when first coming into college.”

Coolest opportunity you’ve had through IC and/or the Honors Program:I just returned from a semester in London, and living abroad for four months is definitely the coolest thing I’ve done! I took the Honors seminar when I was there and got to see a lot of London on foot, and explore areas I wouldn’t have known to go to on my own.

We’re always looking for interesting students to highlight in our Student Spotlight series.
