IC Honors Advice: On Classroom Etiquette

6729_full.jpgAdvice:
Try to be on time for class; if you are late, apologize to the professor after the class (don’t take up class time to explain your personal business). Do not use electronic devices in class unless the professor invites you to do so and never take a call or text in class. Professors find this incredibly rude! If you are asking for an appointment, be courteous, e.g.: “May I please meet with you this week?” versus, “I can do Tuesday. How is this week for you?”

Why: You never know when you will need a faculty member for advice, extra help, or a recommendation and knowing proper etiquette and manners in the classroom reflects well on you as a student. Also Remember: “please” and “thank you” are still magic words.
