Tickets for the local farm tour go on sale tomorrow, Tuesday Oct 20, during the noon hour in Bus 114. Tickets are $15, and as usual, tickets are sold on a first come first served basis, and refunds will only be provide if your spot can be filled.
We will be staying in the area, going to Lively Run Goat Dairy for an inside look at how cheese is made, to see their adorable goats, sample their cheeses, and to buy their amazing cheese if you like. Then we will go over to the Cider House, where we will get a tour of how their ciders are made, enjoy a chanticleer board (a selection of local, organic cured meats, local cheese, fruit, pickles and spreads, served w. locally baked sourdough bread), and some hard ciders (for those of you over 21) and non-alcoholic drinks (for those who are not). Next, we will stop by Cayuga Creamery for locally made ice-cream, then head to our last stop, which is Swedish Hill Winery. There, we will get a tour of how their wine is made and there will be an opportunity to taste for those of you over 21.
You will need to bring money if you plan on purchasing cheese, wine, and ice-cream. We will leave Ithaca on Saturday the 24th at 9:30am and return by 5:00pm. Make sure you wear clothing appropriate for walking outside. I looks to be a beautiful 60 degree day on Saturday and as a bonus you will get to enjoy the fall foliage as we drive around the finger lakes.
