IC Honors Student Spotlight: Hannah Cohensmith

Meet sophomore Hannah Cohensmith, a Vocal Performance major with an outside field in Politics from Longwood, Florida! Learn more about Hannah below:
Favorite part about IC:It’s a tie between the welcoming atmosphere (which is why I chose IC) and the professors. Every professor I’ve had has not only been extremely knowledgable in their field, but also so helpful and inspiring on a personal level.”
Favorite Honors Seminar you’ve taken and why:The Golden City with Bob Sullivan! I never thought I’d be interested in reading Plato and Herodotus, but this class proved to be my most engaging one. Not only has what I learned in there been applicable to almost every class I’ve taken since, but the class also challenged me enough to write a 20 page research paper about ancient Athenian education that was good enough to present at the Whalen Symposium last spring during my freshman year.”
Coolest opportunity you’ve had through IC and/or the Honors Program:The Honors trip to Ottawa last semester for Winterlude. It was my first time really out of the country and even though I’ve never been as freezing as I was during that trip, I can’t thank the Honors program enough for providing such a cool opportunity basically for free. I ice skated (terribly) on the Rideau Canal and got to walk all around the capital in just one day, which is something you wouldn’t expect to do on a regular Saturday.”
We’re always looking for interesting students to highlight in our Student Spotlight series.
