Favorite part about IC: “My favorite part about IC has to be all of the experiences and opportunities that are available to you. As I freshman I already have a job, an internship, and am able to write for and participate in several different media outlets at school. Also, the professors here really care about you and will help you become successful.”

Favorite Honors seminar you’ve taken and why: “Since I’m only a freshman I’ve only had the chance to take two honors seminars, Why Are We Here? and Journalism and Truth: Nonfiction South of the Border. Both seminars have changed my point of view and broadened my horizons. Why Are We Here? was interesting because it forced me to question why I actually enrolled in college as well as why I believe in certain things. Journalism and Truth has exposed me to so many journalists and pieces of work that I would otherwise be blind to. Tom Pfaff and Pablo Calvi are both very knowledgeable professors that keep you constantly thinking and developing new ideas, I love that.”

Coolest opportunity you’ve had through IC and/or the Honors program: “Other than meeting some amazing people, the coolest opportunity I’ve had through the Honors Program has been the Ottawa trip. We took a day trip there for the Winterlude Festival and it was such an interesting experience. People from around the world had entered a contest in which they all created incredible ice sculptures that were judged. They included everything from soccer players to dragons. We were also able to explore the city and experience the culture.”

We’re always looking for interesting students to highlight in our Student Spotlight series.
